Doll's day: lots of news

This week I wanted to show you 3 creations.

Mini Mr Owl, that’s  how I call him, made from leftover garn. The (Dutch) pattern can be found here:

meneer de uil.jpg

I bought the eyes at Zeeman’s. I tought they were self-adhesive eyes, but no! I sticked them with adhesive for textile and didn’t expext it would stick so good. It worked thanks to some patience!!

Furthermore I made a hippo, Nilli, a pattern from Bettys-Simm-Salabim. (

Somewhere on Facebook I saw someone crocheted the white part of the eye and sewed a black button on it and finished! Of course I wanted to try that because I have loads of buttons. I like the result, do you?

And then I continued crocheting on Squirly, the FAL from CrochEssie by Esther Emaar a while ago.

We only see half of the photo because she is not finished and Squirly is shy. Same here: I discovered a mistake. The eyes which I ordered at couldn’t be sewed on. I crocheted too tight. A learning experience and I sticked an eye from Zeeman. She doesn’t look bad, but how awesome would it be if she wore the eyes as described in the pattern… Next time I’ll make a fantirumi!

It has been a while since the FAL has ended. CrochEssie was very busy in the meantime. Last week she published her latest pattern: Turtoisy. Isn’t she lovely…(Picture: CrochEssie by Esther Emaar)

Turtoisy is a free pattern to be made on an egg. The pattern can be found here: You can make here for the children in Villa Pardoes (I wrote about it earlier in my doll’s day blogs) or for yourself. And there are also very nice packages for sale at to make Turtoisy.

Is there some more news? Oh yeah, of course there is, loads of news!
On 28 September a CAL starts at Amigurumi haken met Adriënne:Jozefien.

Isn’t she sweet. Do you join? Go to the Facebookgroup:

If I attend all these CALs? Ehm, I wouldn’t be able to sleep anymore, haha!

No, I only share the information because I can and I would like to be helpful for you and the Designer.

I have lot of WIP’s to finish. Otherwise I can’t see the amigurumis through the WIP’s ;-)

That’s all the news for this week. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you next time!

DIY: a second chance for your old garden chair

Once upon a time there was an old garden chair.
oude stoel 1.JPG

I wanted to give it a second chance. At first I cleaned it with Cif

oude stoel 2.JPG

Then I painted with primer for plastic paint and after that with acrylic paint.

So now, the chair is ready to stand inside our house. Oh, but do not forget to do paint it with lacquer!

Hast du auch schonmal eine alte Gartenstuhl renoviert?

Tea-cozy with long tail, very practical!

I had the honour to make a tea-cozy. I found a picture on Pinterest, without a pattern. So I made it by heart.

theemuts org.jpg

Although it is obvious that not all tea-cozies are the same, one can’t just take a basic pattern for it …
theepot 1.jpg
and it became “tailormade”
theepot 2.jpg

Even more tailormade, because a long tale was wished so that you won’t burn your fingers while pourring the tea!

Awesome idea, of course!!!

Doll's day

Ich have been crocheting a lot lately. Frambloosje is finally finished. She is a bag hanger now.
It was a good idea to continue working on Frambloosje at a later stage because I noticed that I didn’t do the popcorn stitch right (tummy). The popcorn stitch has been done properly on the hat.

This time I can show you another Mini, a pink elephant. (design Conni’s Häkelviecher,, also i English). The minis are great to make with rest wool.

Jars are also great to make with rest wool. Okay, it has nothing to do with Doll’s Day, but the amigurumi next to the jar does:

Who is that? That is Ms Mallory, Mighty Malcolm’s wife (free pattern Dendennis). (

I had the intention to make Mighty Malcolm, but ehm, a cool bear with a pink pullover?????? Meanwhile I’m making Mighty Malcolm too.

Well, are you ready for the CALs?

Which CALs? Well, at first Rudi from Schlappohrhund Wuppertal (German language). Do you want to join?

Or in Dutch:

I can recommend an awesom Facebook Group called,  “Haakpatronen van Ankie”

The group isn’t only for attention for Ankie’s patterns, but also for charity: to make bear blankets. Bear blankets? Well I translate the text from their website: "This group makes blankets for children, who need a lot of love and warmth. Bear blankets and bears give a good feeling. For children at the age from 0 - 16 who go through a tough time during their childhood. "

Ankie would like to help the organisation with the sale of her patterns:
Ankie crochets very quickly. Therefore she writes and sells the patterns to buy wool....
Go to Ankie’s Facebookgroup and have a look at her Amis (Spookje, Meneertje IJskoud, Japie Stokstaart , Femke Fret, handpopje or Knurt Drommels).
You can buy the patterns by sending Ankie a personal message on Facebook.

Another long Blog…

Thank you for reading and I hope to see you next time!

Doll's Day: a lot has happened

I didn’t write blogs for a while, but here I am again! It’s fun to write a Doll’s Day Blog!

What happened?
I joined a CAL from Schlappohrhund Wuppertal Schildi, a huge turtle.
It was fun to make her, her shoes, her face. I was in love.
schildi 1.jpg
schildi 2.jpg
schildi 3.jpg

When Schildi, the turtle was finished, she went into the garden and was very curious, so I made some pictures:
Unfortunately you can’t buy Schildi at the Crazy Patterns Shop ( but you can join a new CAL from Rudi as of 30. September. Go to:!

Do you remember die Maus (the mouse)?

I still love the mouse.
I made the mole too (pattern Conni’s Haekelviecher: )
It was fun to make Minis wenn you don’t feel so well and still want to make something. I made the mole with hook 2,5 or 3 no smaller.
There is an elephant too which I would love to make in the color blue :).

Unfortunately I didn’t find a pattern for the duck.
die maus.jpg
Picture: ZDF.

During the holidays I made a cat. When I finished the cat the meat wasn’t safe!  The meat was just ready and there the cat was, he didn’t care if the pan was hot or not!!!
The cat wanted to eat the meat with Poekie but as you already know, Poekie is very sweet and wasn’t interested in the stolen meat.
kattie 2.JPG

You can find the pattern for the cat with the meat over here:
It isn’t that difficult to make if you made amigurumis with patterns before.

I would like to recommend some patterns. Please come and join the Facebookgroup Amigurumi Handmade by Ginia, , because:
Opi (grandpa) from Antje Smit has Omi (grandma) now with him
opa en oma.jpg

And Ginia Mees wrote a new pattern too:
linke loetje.jpg

Furthermore there will be another CAL
cal Antje Smit.JPG

Bettys-Simm Salabim wrote a new awesome pattern too, Cookie the raccoon ( wasbeer.jpg

And Designer Jannie Brommer (JB Crochet Design and Creations wrote a new pattern:

Flowermaid Elyssa. You can buy the pattern through Facebook or if you don’t have a Facebook Account, by  E-mail:

This schoolyear won’t be boring will it?

For now, thank you for your attention and I hope to see you next time!

Cheers, Mariam

DIY: Make a denim jeans smartphone charging station (without sewing)

I collected a few old jeans. A good moment to make such a charging station for my smartphone.

At first I draw the piece I wanted to use.

Then I divided the back leg from the front leg.

After that I cut along the line of the handle.

And you're charging station is finished!

Do you also recycle your old Jeans?
