Doll's day: And another week has passed

And another week has passed.
Here is Daan (Pattern from Ginia Mees) now with eyes and eyebrows. His hat is still missing, but will follow. Yes, the picture, without flipflops, he’d lost one. And his shirt looked like a bra! "Put it off !!!", he said. He tried to hide behind Mr. Snowman, but you could still see his shirt.

Daan was not amused that he was to be seen naked on the Internet. But he is not only cool, but has also very sweet charakter: he wanted to have a picture with his clothes on now. Of course I will do my best for him.

He had one urgent question: please remove my plastic eyes and replace them with crocheted eyes. And I had to do it with Grandpa Bas’ eyes too, because he didn’t like Opa Bas with those plastic eyes. Well Daan, no discussion, you’re absolutely right, so that’s a deal!

He just took a shower. I find my cool Daan a sample Daan. Who knows how he will look like next week! He asked for chest hair. Well yeah, ehm, surprise….
I learned a lot from Daan. The most important this that I actually have to crochet an Amigurumi at once. Then I  will get the best result. And yes, I will make notes, e.g. which hook did I use and keep all the garn together.
The patter Daan was chosen by my lovely daugthers. This Daan will be my Daan. I’ll make a new Daan for my girl, made with cotton, this time with the same material that I use for Guido de Snowboarder and I will use it for Shopping  Coby too.
As written in my last Blog the CAL from the group Amigurumi handmade bij Ginia ( just started. Yes, I started already, well yes, Daan gave me permission for it, the sweatheart. In the group you can admire different wonderful heads from Guido. Just awesome!

Guido was looking at me and Shopping Coby is also cute. I would love to make her for her namesake. No no no, I won’t start with Shopping Coby right now: one step at a time!
The advantage of a CAL is that you have one week tot finish a part: that’s chill..
I wrote about  Belly earlier:
I had some material left, except for the eyes, which I will buy soon. And then I will start with Belly.
What I will do differently with Belly is look after the colour change and how I will sew the legs on, because wenn you sew them correctly Belly will be able to sit. I will make notes on the pattern about the colour change and also which colour I’m using.
About the FAL (Fantasize-a-Long):
The FAL will start on 6 Februar and you will be able to make one part every week. The list of material you can find here:
It is nice to crochet a Fantirumi/Minirumi or a Mysteryrumi. I can recommend to become a member of the group"Fantirumis and more":

Mr Snowman is almost finished but he also wanted some different eyes. I have to make his arms and buy a broom. Maybe he is finished next week!
He asked me to sit next to Daan, Daan took off his shirt and he wanted to admire his awesome biceps ….

Yesterday the CAL from Bettys-Simm-Salabim started. I was looking forward to it, I will crochet with cotton.
And oh yeas, I’m crocheting Fla, pff, no, Fpa, no, aw !!! Frambr, oh no, Frambs pff, I can pronounce it!!! I copy pasted it because it is a nightmare. Her correct name is: FramBLOOSJE! Terrible. But the pattern for Frambloosjes is sooo cute. I just finised the legs, so now the rest.

I’m nervos because of the Popcornstitch. It is ridiculous, because the explanation is perfect…..

WIP: does it sound familiar?

Today the CAL “Guido de Snowborder” started.

I wanted to finish Daan, and start with something new.
I got start up problems like every day lately. I became mad and sad of it. But I never give up. In such case I solve it by sorting things out en clean. So, I did!
I took some pots out of the fence and I cleaned up the case where my WIP things are in and divided the stuff into the pots.

I made me happy. Finally some overview and yes!! I found the adapter from my iPad (very practical: LOL).

adaptertasje blogfoto.jpg
II started with making a bag for the adapter. I used hook nr. 3. It went well. The pattern follows next week. I became enthusiastic and I got a lot of new ideas.

Then I went on with the snowman. This is a WIP since Summer (oh my!). In the meantime mr. Snowman got a nose. I'm looking for a broom, tips are welcome…

And oh yeah the piggy pot.. and.. Daan
The snowman got a hat from the Monkey Elmo, who got it from me. This hat is very old! I made it on elementary school. We learned it from a non. So, the hat is very special. I made a nose, a different colour shawl because I was of the opinion that apple green neus doesn't fit to a dark green hat. Slowly I got a smile on my face.
Mr. Snowman has to wait for his mouth. I like buttons as well as on his belly but I need to buy some decend glue. The same glue problem with the piggy pot, so I had to go for a hunt to the stores.
Then I got finally on with Daan! I kept on having problems with his pants. I made Daan with hook size 3 and Wibra wool. Nothing wrong with that. But hey, Daan loves good food and you can see that!!! Pants made with hook size 4: again too small. I wrote an SOS post on the Facebook group from Amigurumi handmade by Ginia asking what to do now. Ginia and Antje recommended a bigger hook and thicker wool. So that was hook size 5. Well ehm, problem still not solved. Desperately I took hook size 7 and double thread wool from Action. Strange enough: this time the pants did fit, I was sooo happy!!!

I think I can show you Daan coming Tuesday. He wasn't amused that I showed a picture of him naked. We made deal that I show his photoshoot coming Tuesday in my blog about Doll's day on the condition that I'll make some changes on him. I can live with his demands, so.. TO BE CONTINUED!
Have you also ever been fed up your WIPs? How did you deal with it?

DIY: Wednesday repairday! Fix your zipper
My daughter had a onesie and liked wearing it. One day the zipper broke half way down. The onesie was okay and I didn’t want to throw it away.
Well, what would you do then?

Have a look on the Internet or YouTube! I did it a little different:

What do you need?

Of course the onesie with the broken zipper
A screw driver
a nipper

1. Move the zipper up, ensuring it does not come off.
With the screw driver slightly open the part where the teeth from the zipper is caught

Please be careful while opening an older zipper, it is broken before you know!

Move the “teeth” part between the zipper and close with the nipper.

Zip up and there you go!

Do you also look for a solution for your zipper instead of throwing clothes away?

Doll's Day

Doll’s Day: 50 litre is not 50 kilogram!!!

??? What is this about Mariam?
I’'ll tell you: when you’re making dolls, you need fiberfill. But hey, you’ll run out of it one day. And that was the case during filling Daantje. As you can read in the pattern: Daantje is a strong and cool person, and he loves food. So: he needed m-u-c-h fiberfill!

I read often the question here and there where to buy much fiberfill and cheap. For my recycleblog I wanted to go to Schuimrubbergigant to make a photo report of how to cut foam cushions for the garden chairs. They sell fiberfill too: 50 litre. In my experience is that a bag that I can’t put in the attic in a corner.

Would it fit in the car -Renault Twingo-? Maybe I can try a piece? One of my Facebook friends already bought a 50 litre package and was quite happy wit hit, both the sending and the product itself. But ... because it is personal, I wanted to try it myself.
Personnally I’m very happy with the fiberfill from Action, so I took it with me to Schuimrubbergigant to compare.

My conclusion is that the fiberfill from Schuimrubbergigant is as nice as the one from Action. However, 50 litre fiberfill is not 50 kilogram, but approximately 1 kilogram, hahaha. And yeah, the fiberfill is packed nicely in a bag with a ziper, so that’s practical. Just like this bag, it fits in the trunk. What do I say? It fits even on the ground in the front passenger seat in the car!

To give you an idea how big the package is, I'll place a photo and I put down the bag on purpose next to the converted shopping bag (hooked by me more on that tomorrow) for comparison. To

And yeah, I’m very proud of my converted shopping bag next to the bag with the fiberfill...
A blog about the shopping bag will follow next week!

In the meantime Cool Dan hasn’t been finished yet, he only has a pair of flipflops, but I will be fine. And the clothes will come one day, just like Barbie’s clothes:

During the time that I didn’t do much, Ginia Mees was going fast with designing. She designed some nice amigurumis like Franswah and a CAL is coming up soon again.

For more information I refer to the Facebook group Amigurumi Handmade by Ginia:

It has been a while that I made my first minirumi. I’ll start with the second one soon, it will be another Belly. I love her so much! By the way, did you know that you can follow a workshop to crochet a minirumi?
And if you want to learn crochet you can also sign up for the workshop:

And not only that, but soon there won’t be a CAL, but a  FAL! How do you invent it? Personally I like the ideas of Crochessie by Esther Emaar very much. Never a dull moment if I would have ever had one, lol!

For more information I refer to the Facebook group from Fantirumi's and more:

I couldn’t join a CAL last month. But I do hope to join one this month. I wouldn’t mis Bettys-Simm-Salabim group CAL for the world! The CAL starts on 20 January. In the meantime I would like to draw your attention to their nice Facebook page:

So, I have to plan with work schemes. For me, work schemes are pleasant and they motivate.

Have you made work schemes too to make lots of things from your bucketlist?
