Doll's day: Poekie and the Amigurmis (scary?)

This Doll’s Day blog is situated in the garden. We do not have a watchdog but a watchcat!
poek in de tuin.jpg

Every morning he checks if everything is okay. The dolls know and hide until Poekie leaves the garden. Then they come..

Pug wanted some fresh air.

Our Pug was scared by Poekie’s close up picture.

Poekie asked Pug what he was doing in the Garden.

Pug was scared to death.

Tapsie (design Betty-Simm Salabim, was in the neighbourhood to help Pug. Tapsie and Pug went for a drive.

If you would like to make pug yourself: It is a free pattern and very easy to make. Everything is explained with pattern and Youtube film.

Tapsie is a loving and caring for allt he Amigurumis. Last Saturday she saw ducky -who normally sits in the car - in the garden. The car was cleaned and ducky sat in the Garden. Tapsie saw her und sat next to ducky. We are going to take a picture Tapsie said.

Do you also have a cat who loves crocheted stuff and amigurumis?

There is some news: a new pattern from Antje Smit. Awesome guy isn’t he?! You can make him too.13697058_930042417106082_854898058505642911_n.jpg

Why was Daan shocked? Including free pattern Barbie's cardigan :)

You probably saw this picture from Daan (design Ginia Mees ( earlier on Facebook. But what was Daan looking at? I wanted to ask him but he held his hands in front of his eyes and the only thing he said was NOOO. When he calmed down I heard he was shocked by Barbie. I looked behind me and saw: nothing!
What was the matter? Daan told me that Barbie wanted to kiss April the Frog from Angel’s Creations Crochet ( because she wanted a cardigan.

A frog could do magic? I went looking for Barbie and talked to her.
“Listen Barbie” I said, you completely confused. In the fairytale from the Princess and the Frog the princess kisses the frog because he is a prince. And you're making another mistake Barbie: April is a girl!!! Barbie started crying. I felt sorry for her, she has been waiting for her cardigan or something else to warm her arms for soooo long. She was right. So, I started crocheting and this is the result. You can make the cardigan yourself too, within 40 minutes it is ready. I have attached the free pattern.

You might think, we were talking about Lizzy? Oh yeah, she is confused too (at her youngest age!).
Her clothes were washed and ready to be packed when I heard that they couldn't go to Afrika. Oh, I comforted Lizzy, I will pack them for the next person to go to Africa or for a baby nearby.."
Lizzy was pleased. She could choose the pictures for this doll's day blog. “That one, that one”, Lizzy said enthusiastically. Yeah, I like those too:

In November I wrote about the nice free patterns from Crochessie by Esther Emaar to crochet for Villa Pardoes:

They are running out of stock of the Minirumis. Despite me crocheting less with small hooks I do want to try to crochet for Villa Pardoes. The free patterns can be found here Also the materials you need for the minirumis are on House of Creations.
For the tips and trick to make the minirumis go to the Facebook group Fantirumi’s and more:
Are you going to crochet for Villa Pardoes too?
I already wrote about amigurumi-designer Ginia Mees. Wow! Ginia has been very busy lately. Eddy has a wife now, called Ivy.

And Joshua:
Awesome hey? Would you like to make them too? Become a member of the Facebook group and order the patterns by sending a PM to Ginia Mees.
Do not have an account on Facebook? No problem at all. You can send Ginia Mees an e-mail:
Are you wondering when I start crocheting amigurumis again? Well the cramp disappeared (hurray!), the patterns are attractive, maybe I'll make them with hook number 5….
Yeah, I really want to make a start again, because Bettys-Simm Salabim also wrote some new patterns again Wuzzel with his Cushion:

and Hope, her feet are made with an African flower granny.

Aren't they cuties? ….For Bettys-Simm Salabim's latest news and patterns go to:
Well, that was the doll’s day news for now.
Thank you for your attention and I hope till next time!
Will you follow me on Facebook?

The creak shopping bag

There is a Facebook group called AH Shoptas:

Members show their jute bag from Albert Heijn with a crocheted jacket. In the meantime you can see more jute bags with a crocheted jacket. You can see wonderful creations.

As odd as I am, I would like to give a plastic bag a crocheted jacket and also not that size. So I made recycled Action bags. What a fun! I made them with grannies.

mo's tas.jpg
The basic granny tutorial can be found:

On youtube:

In a blog

I joined the grannies together with the slip stitch join method:

On youtube

In a blog

For the sides and the bottom I took a stitch and crocheted half trebles over the width of the sides.

Then I took the whole crocheted piece over the bag (a bag in a bag).

The sides, top edge and bottom I sewed with petit points with machine yarn in the color of the acrylic and with an embroidery needle with a sharp point.

The bag is ready now!

The bag creaks a little. A jute bag doesn’t. That is why I call it the creak shoppin bag :).

Did you ever crocheted a normal plastic shopping bag?

Doll's day: Babydoll Lizzy (2) incl. links to free patterns for the baby hat

Last week I got an E-Mail message that someone would travel to Africa and was collecting kids clothes. I thought of Lizzy, her hats and my addictio to make the hats. So I told her about it. She took her clothes out and put one dress and a pair of trousers next to it.

daan en lizzy.jpg
What does Daan from Ginia Mees ( tell Lizzy?

“Here” she said, “these are for the kids in Africa. You have to make new clothes for me.”
daan lizzy en kleren.jpg
“Oh?” I said. Oh yeah, she said, I just saw you taking the sewing magazine with you from the library and also that you found the Jeans you made for me earlier again.” As you can see, Daan is in flabbergasted....

So, no more secrets for the dolls here at home. I can’t surprise them … Although, I should put everything in my office!! And in case of surprises I should put them somewhere else. But that’s dangerous too, I can’t remember where I put the stuff!!!

I promised to post the free patterns for the hats.

I attach the link to the knitted baby hat:

And crocheted:

That’s it for now.

Thank you for reading and I hope to see you back next time.

Doll's Day: Babydoll Lizzy

Due to cramp my hands by crocheting with small hooks I can’t crochet amigurumis. Unfortunately....

In the meantime Lizzy’s whining for attention. I want a poncho. I want a poncho, I want to pose again with baby bonnets. At first I thought, just ignore it, she’ll stop. Well ... not at all!

Dolls in the B family are very persistant. So here she is, now with a picture of a baby hat I made for a nephew. The hat is made with Royal from Zeeman with knitting needle 3,5 and and crochet hook 5.

poppendag mutsjes 14.06.2016.jpg
It is a combination of knitting and crocheting and fun to do. Not only fun, I was addicted to it for a while....

Next week I’ll post the basic pattern and there are more pictures from Lizzy to see, because she was a model for the hats.

Many thanks for reading and hope to see you next week!

13 June National Sewing Machine Day

Today is "National Sewing Machine Day".

Something to celebrate”!

Not only that, it is also a reason to take extra care for your sewing machine like I wrote in my blog earlier:

For my sewing machine, a Toyota I found the official website with the instructions manual:

I´m very pleased with my machine. For me my sewing machine helps me to make or repair something very quickly, like a car for me is a car which brings me from A to B. Simpel and functional.

What expectations do you have from your sewing machine?

Doll's Day: to sew (someone's) ear?

I crocheted a panda bear for my daughter, based on the Bettys-Simm-Salabim’s pattern from Teddy. I made Teddy in 2014 when I didn’t know what a double crochet was and I crocheted with hook number. This time I crocheted the panda bear with hook number 2,5 and acryl from Zeeman as described in the pattern. Now you can see the difference, hihi.

To sew an amigurumi can be difficult. I wanted this panda bear to be perfect (what is perfect??) and I fiddled around with the ears.
That’s why I took panda to Hameln in Germany where I would meet Bettys-Simm-Salabim in real life. She told me to sew the corners of the ears when you know if the ears are placed correctly. Otherwise you can correct it easily. Of course I can sew an ear, but it is always nice to learn to sew in a different way.
Last week I proudly presented Oma Saartje from the FB Group Haak met ons mee . Yesterday a new CAL started. This time grandpa will be crocheted so that grandma won’t be alone. Do you want to join? Than go the Facebook group, I guess you can still start till the end of the week. If you’re curious how grandpa is going to look like go to:

Last month I crocheted a kakadu from Conni Hakelviecheräkelviecher-859291467470332/?fref=ts

to cheer a member on the FB crochet group up. So not only will there be crocheted and shown some work. Sometimes there is “more” and someone will be cheered up.
vogel 2 24 mei 2016.JPG

I also crocheted for a swap on the FB group Crochet Friends
I had to laugh when I saw the picture on Facebook and I crocheted this duck: vogel 24 mei 2016.JPG
Crochet Friends is a nice group with a lot of activity. At the moment there is a CAL going on.

I joined a CAL on a German group from Schlapporhund Wuppertal.

This is her FB page: What a pity that our Dutch football team won’t join the European Championship.
champ cal.jpg
champ af.jpg
At least I’m in time for the World Championship and I can make a nice Dutch Champ. What a pity, when football is on the tele I’m crocheting, but all the decorations in the stores and supermarkets to support the Dutch team are sooo nice!!! So gentlemen of the Dutch Football team: work hard our Dutch people and enterpreneurs are counting on you.
By the way, I like the German version also. I would like to make that one too one day. Champ is easy to crochet!
champ duits.jpg
How is Hannah Walking the Dog from Ginia Mees doing? Well, I won’t be able to finish her before the end of the week because of personal circumstances. I have to travel a lot. Until the end of the week you can post a picture of your version of Hannah on the Facebookgroep Amigurumi Handmade by Ginia Mees if you would like to to participate in the contest. Oh yeah, you can order nice packageds from Bas, Abby und Shopping Coby (in Dutch):

Oh man! I thought I could finish Squirly from CrochEssie by Esther Emaar. Ehm, no? I had to crochet her head and when I was crocheting I didn’t like the purple flowers on the blue background for her eyes so I ordered white flowers on I think she can be see on next Doll’s Day blog. I tried to put her in a big jar from Amsterdam Onions. Although her head wasn’t finished I discovered that she was “not amused”. She didn’t have much space in it.

Next week some other creations will be ready and I will be able to show you a happy Barbie too.

Thank you for reading and you’ll read next Doll’s Day blog.

Cheers, Mariam
